The correct brushing time for an adult is at least two minutes. Use short, gentle strokes. Pay special attention to the gum line, the back teeth and the areas around fillings, crowns and other restorations.

For proper brushing, follow these steps in order:
• Brush the outer surfaces of your upper teeth, followed by your lower teeth.
• Then brush the inner surfaces of your upper teeth, followed by your lower teeth.
• Brush the chewing, or top, surfaces of all your teeth.
• Do not forget to brush your tongue for fresher breath.

Hold the toothbrush at a 45° angle to the gum line and brush from the gum towards the tooth. Gently brush the outer, inner and chewing surfaces with short back-and-forth strokes. Gently brush your tongue from back to front to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
